Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have both confirmed the sighting of the Zil Hajj moon, meaning Eid ul Adha will be celebrated on the same day, 27 May 2026. Religious scholars welcomed the announcement and urged Muslims to prepare for the holy occasion with unity and devotion.
After the sighting of the moon of Dhul-Hijjah in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, Eid-ul-Adha has been announced to be celebrated on Wednesday, May 27, after which a wave of joy has spread among Muslims around the world.
A meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was held in Karachi under the chairmanship of Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad. Representatives of the Meteorological Department, Suparco and the Ministry of Religious Affairs attended the meeting, while the zonal committees also sent reports of moon sightings from their respective areas.
During the press conference, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad said that the weather remained clear across the country and credible evidence of moon sighting was received from several areas. After reviewing all the evidence, the sighting of the moon of Dhul-Hijjah was announced.
He said that Eid-ul-Adha gives a message of sacrifice, sacrifice and brotherhood. On this occasion, Muslims should also share the joy with the needy people around them.
The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia and the relevant authorities have also confirmed the sighting of the moon. According to this announcement, May 26 will be the Day of Arafah, while May 27 will be Eid-ul-Adha. Millions of Muslims from all over the world will perform the Hajj rituals.
After the announcement of Eid-ul-Adha in Pakistan, there has been an increase in the hustle and bustle in the livestock markets. Citizens are turning to different markets to buy sacrificial animals, while online sacrificial services have also become active.
The district administration has started special measures to maintain cleanliness, security and traffic flow during Eid. Local bodies have been instructed to make effective arrangements for timely disposal of garbage.
Religious and social circles have appealed for special prayers on this occasion for the security, development and unity of the Muslim Ummah. Experts say that celebrating Eid on the same day in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia will further strengthen the sense of solidarity among overseas Pakistanis and the global Muslim community.
