PM Shehbaz Sharif has issued instructions to rapidly expand the promotion of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure in the country.
While chairing a high-level meeting, the Prime Minister said that keeping in mind the future needs, it has become inevitable to shift transport to environment-friendly electric energy.
He directed the authorities to accelerate the installation of electric vehicle charging stations across the country and prepare a clear policy for this.
The Prime Minister also stressed on the popularization of battery storage, especially for storing excess electricity generated from solar energy and using it in electric vehicles.
He also clarified that only electric buses and motorcycles will be given priority in future government procurement, which is being considered a major change in policy.
The meeting was informed that steps are being taken to promote electric vehicles in the country and several requests have been received for the establishment of charging stations.
