After the approval of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Petroleum has issued a notification regarding the change in the prices of petroleum products, which came into effect from 12 am on April 25.
According to the notification, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs 26.77 per liter, after which the new price has been fixed at Rs 393.35 per liter. Similarly, the price of high-speed diesel has increased to Rs 380.19 per liter.
Petroleum Minister Ali Pervez Malik said that the government had to take this difficult decision due to the increase in oil prices at the global level and regional tensions.
According to him, the increase in prices was inevitable in view of international agreements and increasing financial pressure. On the other hand, some relief has also been provided to the public.
The price of kerosene has been reduced by Rs 63.60 per liter, after which the new price has become Rs 365.21 per liter. Similarly, the price of light diesel has been reduced by Rs 28.81 to Rs 270.51 per liter.
Moreover, the price of jet fuel has also been significantly reduced and has become cheaper by Rs 74.70 per liter to Rs 396.31 per liter.
Officials say that this relief has been given keeping in mind the fluctuations in prices in the global market and the new prices will remain in effect for a week.
