The Punjab government has significantly increased the fee for obtaining domicile certificate and approved its transfer to a completely digital system.

According to the decision of the provincial cabinet, the total domicile fee has been increased from Rs 200 to Rs 550, which is an increase of about 175%. The new fee includes Rs 200 as basic fee, Rs 300 as e-affidavit and Rs 50 as service charge.

The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) is operating this system, under which Rs 50 as service charge will be given to the institution while the remaining Rs 500 will be deposited in the government treasury.

The government has also increased the fee for e-affidavit from Rs 100 to Rs 300, after which citizens will now have to make all payments at once.

Under the new system, all payments will be made only through e-Pay Punjab and the method of cash or manual payment has been completely eliminated.
