Petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan are continuously changing; according to the latest review, from January 1, 2026, petrol has become cheaper at Rs 253.17 per litre and high-speed diesel at Rs 257.08 per litre. These prices have been implemented after the recommendations of OGRA.
The latest reduction comes after the decision to reduce diesel by Rs 14 and maintain petrol prices last December, which has given relief to consumers twice.
According to economists, fluctuations in crude oil prices in the global market and changes in the value of the rupee have a direct impact on fuel prices. They say that this reduction is certainly a temporary relief, but permanent price stability will only come when there is increased focus on local production and alternative energy sources. Moreover, the impact of changes in fuel prices will also be seen on the food and transport sectors, which brings changes to other sectors of the economy.
