Islamabad: The federal government has revised the prices of petroleum products for the next fortnight, effective from November 16, 2025.
According to a notification from the Finance Division, the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) has been increased by Rs 6 per liter. Meanwhile, the price of Petrol (MS) has been kept unchanged.
New Fuel Prices
| Fuel Type | Old Price (PKR/Liter) | New Price (PKR/Liter) | Change (PKR) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Petrol (MS) | 265.45 | 265.45 | 0.00 |
| High-Speed Diesel (HSD) | 278.44 | 284.44 | +6.00 |
Impact and Rationale
The decision to raise the diesel price follows recommendations from the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and is attributed to fluctuations and tighter supply in the international oil market, particularly for diesel.
- Diesel Impact: As HSD is the primary fuel for the transport, agriculture, and freight sectors, its price increase is widely considered to be inflationary, potentially leading to higher costs for essential commodities and public transport fares.
- Petrol Relief: The decision to maintain the petrol price offers temporary relief to the middle- and lower-middle class, who primarily use it for private vehicles, rickshaws, and two-wheelers.
The revised rates will remain in effect until the next review cycle at the end of the month.
